Everyone learns in different ways. There are three main learning styles visual, auditory, and kinaesthetic. But there are seven altogether. Understanding how you learn can help you work more efficient. Each learning style has methods that fit the different ways an individual learn best.
My preferred learning style
My learning style is kinaesthetic as you can see from the result of an online test I took.

Style
What
does this mean?
Common
Phrases
Learning
and Techniques
Visual – spatial
Rather read from pictures and diagrams
Let's draw a diagram or map
Use mind maps. Use colour and pictures in
place of text, wherever possible. If you don't use the computer, make sure
you have at least four different colour pens.
Aural - auditory-musical
Like music while learning
It's coming through loud and clear.
When creating mnemonics or acrostics,
make the most of rhythm and rhyme, or set them to a jingle or part of a song.
Verbal – linguistic
You like to express words vocally and
written
I hear you but I'm not sure I agree.
When
you read content aloud, make it dramatic and varied. Instead of using a
monotone voice to go over a procedure, turn it into a lively and energetic
speech worthy of the theatre. Not only does this help your recall, you get to
practice your dramatic presence!
Physical –kinaesthetic
You would rather physical do things
That doesn't sit right with me.
Use
role-playing, either singularly or with someone else, to practice skills and
behaviours. Find ways to act out or simulate what you are learning.
Logical – mathematical
You rather using logic, reasoning and
systems
There's no pattern to this.
While
you study, create and use lists by extracting key points from your material.
You may also want to use statistics and other analysis to help you identify
areas you may want to concentrate on.
Social – interpersonal
You would rather work in a group
Let's pull some people together to
discuss.
If
you are a social learner, aim to work with others as much as possible. Try to
study with a class. If this is not available then consider forming your own
study group with others at a similar level. They don't have to be from the
same school or class. If you like, introduce them to some of the techniques
from this book. It may be easier for you to try some of the Mimetic
Techniques in a social setting, and work with the feedback from others.
Solitary –intrapersonal
You would rather work alone
I'll
get back to you on that.
When
you associate and visualize, highlight what you would be thinking and feeling
at the time. You may want to do most of your visualization and association in
private. I suggest you also try talking to others with more experience to get
some idea of what thoughts and feelings they have in various circumstances.
